Mildred A. “Millie” Cutter

Mildred “Millie” Ann Cutter of Batesville, Indiana, passed away peacefully at home on Monday September 16, 2024, surrounded by family. Born in Batesville, Indiana on January 6, 1933, and would marry Melvin Walter Cutter on October 7, 1961, at St. Mary’s of the Rock Church in St. Mary’s, Indiana. Melvin preceded her in death on December 17, 2020. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Anna (nee: Rosfeld) Theobald and sisters Thelma Eckstein and Ruth Siefert.

To say Millie was a hard worker is an understatement. She first worked at Margaret Mary Hospital as a ward clerk and then, for many years, worked at Hillcrest Country Club and the Batesville Wash and Dry. During Millie’s working years she also found the time to volunteer at Margaret Mary Hospital in many different roles.  Millie was awarded the Batesville Distinguished Service Award in 1993 for her volunteer efforts. Millie was selfless of herself and time to her family, friends and community.

Millie, a devout follower of Christ, was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church where she attended Mass daily and was a Eucharistic minister distributing communion to residents of local nursing homes. Millie also assisted with the St. Louis bereavement committee. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother and was a charter member of the Batesville Optimist club. Millie found beauty and enjoyment on the family farm and the many stray animals she took in and provided a home for. Millie’s life motto: “Give every living creature you meet a smile.”

Millie is survived by daughters Jill (Curt) Beverage, Judy (Doug) Behlmer, Jennifer (Mike) Moeller and son Jim (Amanda Schutte) Cutter all of Batesville. Millie is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Millie’s family would like to thank the amazing healthcare providers that have walked this journey with us and express our gratitude for the love and support that we have been given especially our extended caregiving family that showered our mother with love and compassion.
