On Thursday night, Milan got out to a 3-0 lead after 3 inning and Oldenburg Academy never recovered, defeating the Twisters 4-0
“The game of baseball is about getting breaks. This week has been hard for our guys. We’ve hit a lot of balls hard, but they’ve been right to someone; however, our opponents have been hitting balls where we aren’t. The tide will turn, and we will start getting breaks.” Kolks said after the game.
Milan got things started in the second inning when Alcorn doubled on the first pitch of the at-bat, scoring one run.
A bunt single by Jacob Stenger in the fourth inning was a positive for the Twisters. Unfortunately, the Twisters didn’t see the reward of that bunt.
Jacob McGuire pitched Milan Indians to victory. McGuire went six innings, allowing zero runs on four hits and striking out nine. Alcorn threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.
Jacob Hoff took the loss for Oldenburg Academy Varsity Twisters. Hoff went five innings, allowing four runs on eight hits, striking out four and walking one. “Jacob did a great job of keeping us in the game. Credit to Milan for their timely hitting and ability to capitalize with runners on base.” Kolks added.
Cy Muckerhide went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the Twisters in hits. Milan Indians tallied eight hits in the game. Jeremiah Johnson and Noah Morgan each had multiple hits for the Indians.
Before the game, the Twisters honored their 5 seniors – Alex Sizemore, Cy Muckerheide, Sam Hollis, Eli Bruce, and Jacob Hoff.
The Twisters will look to end the week on a high note as they will host Indy Genesis on Saturday at Liberty Park at 11:00 AM. Before the game, they will honor the 2003 Sectional Championship team for their 20th anniversary.
This evening, Milan visits ORVC foe South Ripley. The first pitch is at 6:00 pm.
