MILAN, IN — The Milan School Board has approved the installation of a multipurpose synthetic turf playing surface at the high school football field.
“When we call it a multi-purpose use area, it certainly will be because we’ll be able to have soccer and football of all levels, and not only that but Band and PE classes, and spring sports will have that opportunity to be out there as well,” said Milan Schools Superintendent Jane Rogers.
She adds other improvements include the addition of visitors’ bleachers on the east side of the field, upgrading the home bleachers to meet ADA standards, plus – with local business sponsorships – installing a new scoreboard as well as a new concession area.
Rogers says the improvements are part of the second phase of the $11 million bond for facilities upgrades.
The first phase was completed last summer.
The Motz Group from Cincinnati will install the new turf.
The company previously installed synthetic surfaces at the East Central, Lawrenceburg, and South Dearborn high school football fields.
Work on the project is scheduled to begin in May with a targeted completion date of August 1.
