(Milan, IN) – The Milan Elementary School Spell Bowl team traveled to Ohio County Elementary on Monday to compete in the 2023 Indiana Academic Spell Bowl competition.
The event is sponsored by the Indiana Association of School Principals (IASP).
Milan competed in the Yellow Division which means their team only had fourth graders. The students were provided 750 words ranging from “afraid” to “Zambezi River.”
They placed first in their division in the competition. Statewide, the team came in 34th out of 63 teams that competed.
The team had eight spellers and two alternates and was coached by Shelby Rowland.
