Milan, IN — Milan Elementary School has been accepted into the Indiana Literacy Cadre.
The program offers a two-year commitment from the Indiana Department of Education (IDOE) starting with the 2023-24 academic year to help advance teachers’ awareness and understanding of evidence-based research on reading, reading development, and reading instruction specifically aligned with the science of reading.
In the first year of the program, IDOE pays two-thirds of a literacy coach’s salary, while the school pays the other third.
Those percentages are reversed in the second year.
