Metamora Fire Truck Involved in Crash

(Metamora, IN) – Some scary moments last Thursday afternoon for Metamora firefighters after one of the volunteer department’s fire trucks crashed while responding to a call.

It happened around 2:30 on Duck Creek Road near U.S. 52.

The preliminary investigation indicates the edge of the road gave just as the engine was rounding a curve.

The fire truck snapped a utility pole, which led to Duck Creek between 52 and Little Duck Creek Road to be closed for several hours while Duke Energy crews replaced the pole.

None of the firefighters were injured.

They’re still assessing damage to the truck and whether it can be returned to service.
