MES students taking part in the Great Kindness Challenge this week

(Milan, IN) – Students at Milan Elementary School are participating in the Great Kindness Challenge this week.

The Great Kindness Challenge is a bullying prevention program that improves the school atmosphere and increases student engagement.

Students are challenged to perform as many acts of kindness at school as possible.

School counselor Michelle McKittrick will present a Lunch and Learn on Kindness to students.
Also throughout the week, staff will hand out “Kindness citations” to students who are caught being kind.
Students are invited to participate in the theme of the day and are challenged to perform a different kindness act each day.
The daily themes and challenges are as follows:
Monday – Be the Sunshine – Wear Yellow.  Challenge – Make eye contact and SMILE with at least 10 people.
Tuesday – Team KINDNESS – Wear a sports shirt (pictured).  Challenge – Encourage or cheer on at least 5 people today.
Wednesday – POWERED by kindness – Wear superhero shirts.  Challenge – Compliment at least 5 people today.
Thursday – Cheerful and kind – Wear tie-dye or bright colors.  Challenge – Say “Good morning” to at least 5 people today.
Friday – MES chooses kindness – Wear black and gold.  Challenge – Say “Thank you” as much as possible today.
