Melvin Honeycutt, of Milan, was born on October 16, 1945, a son to Baxter Sr. and Elizabeth Calhoun Honeycutt. He served his country with the United States Air Force in the Vietnam War. Melvin later married Marleen Davidson on March 10, 1972 in Greensburg and together they raised three children. Melvin worked for many years at Batesville Casket Company, retiring in 2006. He was an active member of the Milan American Legion, Milan VFW, and the Southeastern Indiana Honor Guard in Aurora. Melvin was a past commander of the Milan VFW. He was a member of the Washington Baptist Church in Elrod and the Milan Masonic Lodge 31 (now Osgood #603). He loved hunting, fishing, spending time at the VFW, and most of all, spending time with family. Melvin also enjoyed any type of racing, but dirt track was his favorite. On Sunday, February 2, 2025, at the age of 79, Melvin passed away peacefully at St. Elizabeth Healthcare in Edgewood, KY. Melvin’s legacy of selflessness endures beyond his passing, as he continues to make a profound impact on others through the amazing gift of tissue donation.
