SUNMAN, IN — Brian Maynard was hired as Sunman’s new Marshal following a unanimous vote by the Town Council at Thursday night’s monthly meeting.

Town Attorney John Kellerman swore in Maynard after the vote.

Interim Marshal Thomas Grills and various law enforcement officers in Ripley County and the surrounding area recommended Maynard for the job, citing his experience, work ethic, and a desire to serve and lead the police department.

Grills was named interim Marshal in January following the termination of Jason Hoffman

Grills has agreed and confirmed by another unanimous vote, to stay on and assist with the transition, aid in other various administrative obligations, and begin the interviewing process for a Deputy Marshal.

The Town Council expressed gratitude to Grills for his contributions and guidance over the past several months.
