Max Baumer would not be denied at the plate when runners were on base on Thursday, driving in four on three hits to lead Batesville Varsity Bulldogs past Franklin County 14-3 Thursday. Baumer drove in runs on a home run in the first, a home run in the second, and a single in the seventh.
Batesville earned the victory despite allowing Franklin County to score three runs in the sixth inning. The Wildcats scored their runs on a home run by Xander Rodriguez.
The Bulldogs would put the game away for good with six runs in the seventh inning. The offensive onslaught came from a single by Baumer, home runs by Chris Lewis and Carter Bohman, and an error on a ball put in play by Will Jaisle.
Jaisle was on the mound for Batesville. The righthander went six innings, allowing three runs on five hits and striking out ten.
Avery Harrison started the game for Franklin County. The hurler surrendered eight runs on seven hits over three and one-third innings, striking out one. Eli Butt and Chase Burton entered the game from the bullpen, throwing three and one-third innings and one-third of an inning, respectively.
Rodriguez went 2-for-3 at the plate with a home run and 3 RBI to lead Franklin County.
