Mary E. Koetter, age 82 of Batesville, died Friday, January 18, 2019 at St. Andrew’s Health Campus. She is the daughter of Bernadine (Nee: Schroeder) and Roman Dwenger. She married Alphonse Koetter June 29, 1959. She worked at Danner’s retail store for many years and in housekeeping for the Hill-Rom Company before retiring in 2011.
While Mary had many interests, her passion was spending time with her grandchildren. An excellent baker, her pies, sugar cookies and angel food cake will certainly be missed. She had a green thumb and liked working in her flower beds around the house, was an avid reader, loved all animals, especially dogs and for over 40 years looked forward to spending time with her friends at card club. In later years she became a Reds fan, watching them on T.V., even staying up late if the game went to extra innings.
She is survived by her sons Andy (Kathy) of Batesville, Mike (Sue) of Cleveland, Ohio; sister Louise Koch of Lebanon, Indiana and grandchildren Julia, Mike, Rebecca and Elizabeth Koetter and Jessica (Matt) Miller. In addition to her parents she is also preceded in death by her husband Al and daughter Jeanne Oldham.
Mary’s wishes were to be cremated. The family will receive friends from 9 – 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 24th, at the Weigel Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 11:30 a.m. at St. Louis Church with Rev. Stan Pondo officiating and burial will be in the church cemetery. The family requests memorials to Phi Beta Psi Sorority Cancer Research.
