Mary Carolyn Wintz, age 93 of Batesville, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at The Arc at Cincinnati Senior Living facility in Cincinnati, Ohio. Born December 18, 1931, in Batesville, Indiana, she is the daughter of Aloys and Rosella (Nee: Heitz) Wintz.
Mary Carolyn owned and operated Carolyn’s Camera Shop in Batesville from 1960 – 1986, before selling her business and retiring. She was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church in Batesville, where she was a CCD Instructor, tutor and additionally taught at Holy Family Catholic Church in Oldenburg. She was a S.H.A.R.E, instructor and a member of the Third Order of the Secular Franciscans. She also worked for New Horizons in Batesville working with those with special needs. She loved everything Batesville. Mary Carolyn became a member of the Eureka band, playing the bass drum well into her 80’s.
She is survived by her brother John Wintz (Peggy) of Cincinnati; niece Jane Wintz (Nancy) of Cincinnati; nephews David Wintz of Albuquerque New Mexico, John Wintz (Jennie) of Cincinnati, and Thomas (Gina) Wintz of Lawrenceburg, Indiana.
Visitation is Saturday, October 18th, from 10 – 11 a.m., at St. Louis Catholic Church in Batesville. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m., at the church, with Fr. Bill Farris, OFM officiating. The burial will be at St. Louis Cemetery, with a reception immediately following at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 624 Delaware Road in Batesville.
