Mary Antoinette “Toni” Billingsley, 92, of Rising Sun, IN, passed away on Sunday, April 23rd, 2023 at The Waters of Rising Sun. Toni was born in Rising Sun, IN on October 11, 1930, a daughter of the late Mary Edith (Peters) Smith and Lawrence Ray Smith. She grew up on the family farm in Quercus Grove, IN, and was a 1948 graduate of Patriot High School in Patriot, IN. Toni married Robert Guy “Bob” Billingsley on November 5, 1948. Toni and Bob were married for over 43 years until his passing on May 15, 1992. Toni was a member of the Rising Sun First United Church of Christ and formerly attended the First Presbyterian Church in Rising Sun. Toni formerly worked at Aurora TV & Appliance in Aurora, IN, and at the Rising Sun IGA Store. Toni loved being outdoors and enjoyed long walks. She was also a big Indiana University basketball fan and was very active in local politics.
Toni is survived by two sons, John Allen Billingsley (Melody), of Albany, KY, and Robert Wayne Billingsley (Julie), of Rising Sun, IN; by grandchildren: Jonna Westover, Stephanie Billingsley, Marcus Billingsley, Michele Billingsley, and Brandon Billingsley; by step-grandchildren, Michael Haney and Alicia Haney; by great-grandchildren: Kassidy Billingsley, Maggie Jo Billingsley, Jake Westover, and Jada Westover and by a great great granddaughter, Ellie Brewer. Toni is also survived by a brother, Bobby Smith (Helen Jane), of Plant City, FL, and by her sister-in-law, Helen Marie Smith, of Burlington, KY. Toni was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bob, and by her brother, Chester Smith.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM, Friday, April 28th at Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun, IN with Pastor Mike Jones officiating. Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Friday, April 28th at Markland Funeral Home. Burial will be at Rising Sun New Cemetery.
