Mary Ann Smith

Mary Ann Smith was born March 2, 1951 in Manitoba, Canada. Her parents were the late James Russell and Olive French Pettit.

She was a proud Native American of the Cree tribe. Something that she enjoyed and was close to her heart due to her heritage was “Fancy Shaw,” a form of native American dancing. Mary also loved doing bead work, which allowed her to give beautiful pieces to her family.

She provided for her family by working as a truck driver for many years. She loved this job, which took her all over the U.S. and Canada.

Survivors include her two daughters Melody Mayer of North Vernon, Indiana and Christa Smith of Sunman, Indiana. Five grandchildren also survive.

With family by her side, she passed away Sunday evening, March 24, 2019 at the Manderley Health Care Center in Osgood. At a later date, a Celebration of Life will be held. www.nealsfuneralhome.net
