(Batesville, IN) – Victoria Martz has made it official and has filed to run in the May 5 Democratic Primary to represent District 55 at the Statehouse.

The seat is currently held by Lindsay Patterson (R-Brookville).

Martz says, by listening to all voters, Martz plans to champion common sense solutions to problems faced by Hoosiers each day, such as lowering the cost of living and ensuring access to essential services.

She says she is committed to fostering community connection and making sure working families “have a seat at the table.”

Martz was raised on a farm in Milan, and credits her resilience to this area.

“My community gave me everything—a childhood spent growing vegetables and raising animals, space to run and learn—and today, it’s where I’m raising my daughter,” Martz said. “I want my daughter to go kayaking on the Whitewater River in Brookville just like I did as a teenager. I want her to grow up with the same sense of belonging, opportunity, and care for others.”

After earning her law degree, Martz returned home to Ripley County.

“The people in my community work hard and deserve a representative who works just as hard,” Martz said, “This is my home and it’s worth fighting for.”

Martz says her campaign is focused on ensuring rural Indiana is no longer overlooked at the Statehouse, and adds she’s committed to a “bottom-up” approach

“Real change doesn’t come from Washington DC—it starts on our front porches,” reads a statement from her campaign.
