Marita J. Young, 86, of Greensburg, formerly of Napoleon, passed away at 2:40pm, Monday, October 3, 2022 at her home. She was born on May 25, 1936 and passed away on the farm where she was born near Greensburg. She was married to Norman Young on June 20, 1959, and he preceded her in death on November 9, 2007. Survivors include one daughter Robin (Kevin) Miller of Greensburg; one grandson Blake Norman Miller; her sister Marian, and her brother Eddie Lochard of Milan. Mrs. Young was a 1955 graduate of Napoleon High School. In her working career she had been employed as a telephone operator in Cincinnati, worked at Storm’s Mini-Mart in Osgood, the Rolling Pin Bakery in Versailles, and retired from Wal-Mart in Greensburg. Marita was well known in the community for making and decorating wedding cakes and for catering weddings. She was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church in Napoleon and had served for over 30 years as a 4-H leader and also on the Ripley County 4-H Board. Marita loved the farm and was very proud that her grandson Blake represents the sixth generation on their farm southwest of Greensburg. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 7 at 11am at the St. John Lutheran Church in Napoleon with Pastor Martin Bornhoeft officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles and from 10a.m. until time of services Friday at the church. Memorials may be given to the Ripley County 4-H organization in care of the funeral home.
