Marion Lee Burke of Greensburg, Indiana passed away on Tuesday, February 14, 2023 at Aspen Place Health Care. He was 77 years old.
The son of Lawrence and Nora (Swegman) Burke was born on November 22, 1945 in Greensburg. In 1964 he graduated from Greensburg High School. Marion married his love, Linda Gray at New Point Christian Church on June 17, 1967.
Marion worked for Marsh in Greensburg and Roundy’s, before moving onto Kroger’s in Batesville, where he stayed for many years before retiring. He was a dedicated and hard worker who enjoyed the outdoors and loved his dogs. Throughout his life, Marion was very involved in his church as an Elder, Deacon, Sunday School teacher and Youth Group leader. He also volunteered with Cub Scouts as a Webelos leader in New Point.
Corvettes were his favorite cars. He owned a 1978 Indy 500 Pace Car and he collected all things to do with the Corvette car collection. Coca-Cola memorabilia was another fascination of his that he collected too. As, Marion became a grandpa he discovered what a joy it was to see his grandchildren. He never missed attending their sporting events to cheer them on. But most of all he just loved his family and loved spending time with them.
He will be missed by his wife, Linda Burke; his daughters, Tammi Taylor (Chris), Jennifer Lewis and Danielle Bocanegra (Lizandro); 6 grandchildren, Joshua Fry, Jeremiah Fry, Jacob Phillips (Kayla), Landon Phillips, Sierra Phillips and Sarah Swain; 2 great grandchildren, Rylen Phillips and Millie Smiley; several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren along with his sister, Marilyn Voiles (Norm); mother-in-law, Reba Gray; plus his nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Carolyn Burke, as an infant, and two half-sisters, Evelyn Tumility and Jean Jones; and his father-in-law, Charles Gray.
Visitation will be Saturday, February 18, 2023 from 12:00-2:00pm followed by 2:00pm funeral service all at New Point Christian Church. Jacob Phillips and Mark Vice officiating. Burial to follow in Rossburg Cemetery.
