Many remain in the dark following Thursday storms

Batesville, In. — As of 4 a.m. Friday more than 2,300 SEIREMC customers remain in the dark. Officials estimate power to be restored during the morning hours of Friday, June 1.

Severe thunderstorms Thursday afternoon storms caused power outages for more than 4,000 SEIREMC customers initially. Trees were blown over roads and wind damage was reported as storms raked southeastern Indiana.

As of 7:30 a.m. in Decatur County a total of 143 customers were without power. The most widespread outage is in Laughery Township where 110 customers are in the dark

Duke Energy has reported just a handful of locations without power as of 4 a.m. Friday.
