SUNMAN, IN — A pedestrian suffered a broken arm when he was hit by a vehicle late Saturday night on State Road 101 north of Sunman.
The Ripley County Sheriff’s Office says 40-year-old Derrick Poston was walking north along State Road 101 around 10:15 pm when a vehicle driven by 22-year-old Tre Maine Horn of Sunman struck Poston’s left arm with the vehicle’s passenger-side mirror.
Investigators say Poston was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and dark blue jeans at the time of the incident.
The driver told deputies he did not see Poston and did not realize what he hit until he stopped.
Poston, who is from Dayton, Ohio, was taken by ambulance to Margaret Mary Health for treatment.
Ripley County Deputy Lee Davidson is investigating the accident.
In addition to the Sheriff’s Office, also responding to the scene were Sunman Rescue 20, Sunman Town Marshal Brian Maynard, and the Sunman Rural Fire Department.
