(Dearborn County, IN) – We have an update on a story we told you about Wednesday.
A Dearborn County man is facing four felony counts after he allegedly shot a handgun inside a home before fleeing.
It happened on the 8600 block of Schuster Road just before 8 a.m. Tuesday.
Dearborn County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the area near the Rullman Wildlife Refuge Park on Turkey Point Road by a man who claimed several people shot at him and were chasing him.
Investigators say he also stated that he was armed with a gun and would shoot himself if the others caught up to him.
Deputies received a description of the man and his vehicle, and a car that matched the description was located.
During the search for the man, deputies learned that a domestic dispute had taken place between Joseph Legner and the others at the Schuster Road home.
They said Legner was asked to leave the residence but before doing so he flashed a handgun and fired it inside the house before running out of the front door and into the nearby woods.
Shortly after deputies and a K9 unit entered the thick, wooded area where Legner was last seen, he was spotted lying on the ground with the handgun next to him.
Legner was taken into custody and booked into the Dearborn County Law Enforcement Center on charges of Pointing a Firearm (Level 6 felony), Recklessness with a Deadly Weapon, Intimidation with a Deadly Weapon (both Level 5 felonies), and Possession of Methamphetamine (Level 6 felony).
