DEARBORN COUNTY, Ind. — A convicted child molester is back in jail, found guilty of having molested a child one year before he had assaulted his other victim.
James Sturgel was convicted of two counts of child molestation Friday after a Dearborn County jury deliberated for over three hours.
Sturgel was released from prison last October on good behavior.
He was serving a 15-year sentence for molesting a 5-year-old child his mother’s roommate babysat in 2008.
Prosecutors said a second victim, who was 6 years old at the time, said Sturgel molested her in 2006 and 2007 while she was in the roommate’s foster care.
Sturgel now faces up to 28 years in prison.
