Man Arrested Following Multi-County Police Chase

(Decatur/Franklin Counties, IN) – A Madison man was arrested following a two-county pursuit early Thursday morning.

The Decatur County Sheriff’s Office says Deputy Joshua Gaither was taking part in emergency vehicle training at County Road 250 West and Base Road around 2:18 a.m. when he saw a black 2012 Ford F-150 enter the barricaded training site.

Deputy Gaither attempted pull the pickup truck over but the vehicle fled the area.

The driver led units on a 30-minute chase which ended in Franklin County when he lost control and the pickup went off the road and was disabled.

Christopher Hoskins was arrested and is being held in the Decatur County Detention Center on a litany of charges, including felony resisting law enforcement with a motor vehicle, outstanding felony warrants out of Jackson County, possession of marijuana and numerous traffic violations.

No one was injured in the pursuit, but investigators say there was a large amount of damage to fields due to the suspect’s driving behaviors.

The incident remains under investigation.

Assisting agencies included the Decatur County Communications Center, Greensburg Police Department, Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, Indiana State Police, Rush County Sheriff’s Office, and Letts EMS-Franklin County Division.
