Southeastern, IN — As you set goals for personal health and happiness this new year, Southeastern Indiana Recycling District asks you to please consider the well-being of the shared planet, too. Recycling is a great choice for doing just that, and it’s available to everyone living in the Southeastern Indiana Recycling District’s seven-county area. Those counties include Franklin, Jefferson, Jennings, Ohio, Ripley, Scott, and Switzerland.
Jason Rogers, a member of the SEIRD Advisory Committee, says that just like navigating the do’s and don’ts of a new diet, starting to recycle may feel daunting and even frustrating at first. What goes in? What doesn’t? Why did the guidelines change? Rogers suggests that instead of trying to do it all at once, start with just one thing. Commit to recycling just that one item for now, and don’t worry about the rest of the list yet.
Here’s a list of the common recyclables SEIRD accepts across its facilities:
– Cardboard
– Mixed paper (like office/computer paper, and junk mail)
– Newspaper
– Plastic grocery bags (includes shrink-wrap)
– Glass bottles (includes clear, green, and brown food and beverage bottles)
– Aluminum cans
– Steel/tin cans (like food, soup, and vegetable cans)
– #1 & #2 plastic containers (like soda bottles, milk and juice jugs, and detergent bottles)
