Lyness named as National Merit Scholarship finalist

Sunman, In. — East Central High School is proud to announce Adam Lyness as a National Merit Scholarship Finalist. Adam is the son of Pam and Jeff Lyness of Guilford, Indiana.

Adam is a senior at East Central and has excelled in the classroom and participated in many extra-curricular activities. Adam served as a captain for the boy’s soccer team this season, played basketball through his junior year, is a member of National Honor Society, and an officer the the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He is a dedicated member of Dearborn Hills UMC and has volunteered in many community programs.

National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) was established in 1955 as a not-for-profit organization that operates without government assistance, specifically to conduct the annual National Merit Scholarship Program. Scholarships are underwritten by NMSC with its own funds and by approximately 440 business organizations and higher education institutions that share NMSC’s goals of honoring the nation’s scholastic champions and encouraging the pursuit of academic excellence
