Lowell Sloan, age 79 of Batesville passed away on August 24 at St Andrews Health Campus. He was born in Bath, Kentucky on December 14, 1941, the son of the late Perry and Ann (Collins) Sloan.
Lowell entered the work force early spending time working in the Kentucky coalmines. He decided to make a change in careers. He would spend the remainder of his working years in the woods. He covered every aspect of logging from buying, selling, to delivering it to the sawmill. He enjoyed working along side his son and the business continues today.
He will be missed by son Lowell (Lisa) Sloan, daughter Annette Adams, grandchildren; Amber (Cory) Whalbring, Jordan Roe, and Audrey Adams, brother Harold Sloan, and sisters Bernalda Crowell, Zell Grossman, Henrietta Franklin, and Ophelia (Jack) Profitt, along with 5 great grandchildren; Alexandria Roe, Kendall Roe, Summer Roe, Camden Whalbring, and Casen Whalbring. He was preceded in death by brothers Elmer Sloan and James Sloan, and sisters; Loraine Gridley, Iona Arnette, and Audrey Carson.
Visitation will be held on Saturday August 28 from 10-12 pm. at Neal’s Funeral Home in Osgood. Funeral services will follow at 12 pm. Burial will follow at Little Memory Cemetery outside of Sunman.
