JCD nets volleyball win at Southwestern Shelby

(VAR) Jac-Cen-Del 3, Southwestern Shelby 1 (home):

Jac-Cen-Del ventured to Shelby County Monday and defeated the Southwestern Spartans 3-1 in varsity volleyball.  Game scores were 19-25, 27-25, 25-18 and 25-23.

“After a slow start in the first two sets that eventually saw the Lady Eagles drop set one, Jac-Cen-Del made an epic comeback in set two,” Jac-Cen-Del coach Cat Schmeltz reports.  “The Eagles crawled all the way back from a 24-18 deficit to win 27-25. The momentum swing made a difference in the final two sets and the Lady Eagles came away with a 3-1 win.”

“Our ability to come back at the end of games shows the maturity and grit we have been working so hard on in practice,” stated Schmeltz. “The girls did not get rattled and really worked together to pick up this win. Some areas really look good, but we have some areas that continue to need improvement. Overall, I am very happy with how we are playing this early in the season.”
