Lowell Paul Market, 84 of Brookville, IN

Lowell P. Market, age 84, of Brookville, lost his battle with cancer January 8, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born October 14, 1933 in Milton, Indiana to William & Mary (Seffrin) Market. He married his wife, the former JoAnn Tincher on October 14, 1989 and she survives.

He graduated from Milton High School in 1951, and then served in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956, and was stationed in Alaska for 1 ½ years.

Lowell moved to Brookville, Indiana in 1956, and sold bottle gas for 15 years. He then went to work for the U.S. Postal Service for 31 years. He was Clerk-Treasurer for the Town of Brookville for four years, and spent four years on Franklin County Council. He was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Brookville, the Bernard Hurst Post #77 of the American Legion, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles #1129 of Brookville.

He enjoyed watching his grandsons play sports, and he liked to travel, having visited 49 states. His favorite vacation destination was Holden Beach, North Carolina. He was also an avid reader and enjoyed crossword puzzles.

Besides his loving wife of over 28 years, JoAnn, survivors include two sons, Paul Market of Brookville, Indiana and Ron Market of Blakeslee, Pennsylvania, his daughter, Beth Jewell of Brookville, Indiana; two grandsons, Blake Jewell and Zachary Jewell, and son-in-law, Rob Jewell of Brookville; one brother, Stanley Market of Milton, Indiana and a sister Helen Cornet of Carmel, Indiana; four cousins and several nieces & nephews.

Family & friends may visit from 4 until 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home, 1025 Franklin Avenue, Brookville, where the rosary will be recited at 7:00 P.M..

The Very Rev. Sean R. Danda and Rev. Mike Holman will officiate the Funeral Services on Friday, January 12, 2018, 10:00 A.M., at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home. Burial with full military graveside honors by the Bernard Hurst Post #77 of the American Legion will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in Brookville.
