Lois Clara Hull, 87

Lois Clara Henderson Hull, 87, of Greensburg passed away on August 1, 2021 at her home with her family beside her.  She was born on August 25, 1933, in Hamilton, Ohio, the daughter of Robert J. and Mildred Fugate Henderson.  At 16, her family moved to a farm in Clarksburg where they also had a grocery store.  Lois enjoyed working the soda fountain and selling scoops of ice cream, especially to her friends at Clarksburg High School, where she graduated in 1951.

Lois was a member of Order of Eastern Star Lois Chapter #147.  She had attended Free Methodist Church in Greensburg and was a member of Clarksburg Christian Church in Clarksburg.  Lois worked as an office manager nine years at Farm Bureau Co-Op, Greensburg, where she was asked to sign correspondence with only her first initial as she had “a man’s job.”  An armed man drove her for field collections and deposits.

Lois loved antiques of all kinds and her passion was restoring furniture.  She was re-purposing and re-selling items most of her adult life.  She was active with the Lake Santee Women’s Club from the mid-1970s – 2015 and for many years would organize all the donations for the annual flea market, taking six weeks to prepare for the one-day event.  She enjoyed playing cards with her monthly groups and always looked forward to seeing everyone.  Lois never knew a stranger and believed “everyone has a story” which she loved hearing about.

Lois married John Hull on April 10, 1976 and they resided at Lake Santee.  John preceded her in death November 9, 2003.  Lois created 10 more commercial rentals which she actively managed until 2014.  She and John enjoyed their many friends and activities at Lake Santee, boating trips with local families to Lake of the Ozarks and Dale Hollow and especially the local “Boat Club” river trips.  Lois and John also enjoyed winters in their home at Clearwater Beach, Fl.

Lois is survived by her son, James Lee, of Greensburg, her daughter, Jodi (Rob) Vicena, of West Chester, Ohio, grandson, Dustin Metz, Batesville, and her sister, Roberta J. Combs, of Hamilton, Ohio.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, an infant daughter, and granddaughter, Kristin Burry.

Arrangements for a Graveside Service at Kingston Cemetery are Friday, August 6, 2021, with a 10:30 am visitation, & 11:00 am funeral.  Reverend Jerran Jackson will be officiating.  Memorial contributions can be made to Our Hospice of Decatur County.  Online condolences can be made to the family at www.popfuneralhome.com
