Greensburg, IN — The Greensburg Decatur County Public Library has issued a call to artists from throughout the state to paint four “book benches” with a literary theme. The fiberglass benches will be placed throughout the community and chosen artists will be compensated.
The library has pre-chosen books of beloved children and young adult authors for inspiration. These benches will be placed at the Greensburg Library, Rebekah Park, and the Tree County Players Playhouse. The project is intended to encourage reading, provide a place for people to rest, and instill in the community an understanding and appreciation of public art.
The project is thanks in part to grant funds dorm the Greensburg/Decatur County Tourism, the Decatur County Community Foundation, and memorial/honorarium contributions from the Library’s Memorial Fund.
