Batesville, In.— World War II Women’s Army Corps veteran Mary Gargano will be honored with a “Quilt of Valor” Sunday, July 16, 2:15 p.m. at the Chateau of Batesville.
Mary entered the service in Miami, Florida and received medical training in Hot Springs, Arkansas. She was a Tech 5 and helped many patients in their time of need. She
also inventoried, greased and wrapped binned stock parts for aircraft. She was honorably discharged in October of 1945. During her service she earned the Army Good Conduct Medal, World War II Victory Medal and the American Campaign Medal.
Recently Mary was recognized at the Trinity Christian Church Veterans’ Banquet.
The event is hosted by Shelia Stevenson of the Rivertown Quilters Club and Rising Sun Vietnam veteran P.G. Gentrup. Batesville mayor Mike Bettice will offer remarks during the event.
