(Indianapolis, IN) – A trio of local agencies will benefit from Duke Energy Foundation grants.
Nearly $215,000 in grants have been awarded to first responders across the state.
Locally, the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office will receive $2,700 for communication accessories to provide a safe and secure environment for the county’s residents and visitors.
The Franklin County Emergency Management Agency is getting $2,500 for “go kits.” These include emergency vests, flashlights, boots, incident management supplies, and printed maps. The agency will also use the funds to purchase tablets for volunteers and staff to conduct damage assessments, a fuel canister and a portable battery for laptops.
The Marion Township Volunteer Fire Department has been awarded $5,000 to purchase an off-road emergency response vehicle that will be outfitted to respond to multiple emergency calls including search and rescue, EMS and wildland fires.
The Duke Energy Foundation says the grants will help local public safety agencies up their response capabilities during severe weather and other emergencies.
