Linda M. Williamson, 60 years old passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 18th, 2023, surrounded by her children. Born May 20, 1963 to Mildred and Melvin Meyer of New Alsace, Linda was a vibrant and loving mother, sister, and friend to many. Her favorite pastime was enjoying the outdoors with her kids and grandkids. Linda loved a good book, the beach, and attending church on Sundays to worship the Lord. Linda was a proud mother to Chassi, Seth, Brett, Brittany, Krista, and Alicia. She carried on many traditions from her own childhood with her children, including making her mother’s (Millie) famous hot chocolate and snow ice cream on a cold winter day. Linda enjoyed spending holidays with family; often decorating for Christmas before Thanksgiving had time to pass, and watching all her children play sports. She believed her greatest accomplishment was raising her children with Jeff, which included many of her favorite memories. She was always a very involved mother and enjoyed watching her sons play on their dirt bikes in the yard and her daughters put on concerts at the house. Linda set aside weekends for her family, she had a strict Saturday morning routine which consisted of waking the kids up bright and early to do their chores, doing yard work in the sun followed by family fun in the evenings. Sundays started with church service and was often followed by a family brunch. Linda’s greatest joy in life was spending time with family and as the family has grown she was blessed with her most special role, being ‘Grams’ to her thirteen grandkids.
Linda is well known for the phrases she often told. “God first, family second, and the rest is noise”. She truly lived by these words, enriching her family in God’s word, and surrounding themselves in the graces He provides. Linda would wake her kids up in the mornings by singing her favorite tune, “It’s going to be a happy day” a hundred times over, in which her kids now sing to her grandkids. Even on bad days, Linda and her family found happiness and joy in all that God has provided to them.
Linda loved putting a smile on everyone’s face, which often included showing up with a gift or two from bargain shopping at her favorite shops. When Linda was diagnosed with cancer, her family rallied by her side. She was beyond thankful for the countless prayers and overwhelming support she received from family, friends, and strangers. The cards she received from the St. Nicholas’ prayer group was especially heartwarming to her. During her cancer treatment, she was grateful to stay with her son Brett and his wife Colette where she watched her granddaughter Sutton grow through infancy. Throughout her cancer treatment, she learned many lessons; one being that life is more than pain and pleasure, and she discovered a deeper meaning when Christ said to love the Lord with your heart, soul, strength, and mind, and your neighbor as yourself.
As the final stages of her diagnosis approached, Linda never lost her zeal for life. Even on her hardest days she still found the strength to go for her daily walks with her family, even if it just included a short walk to the garden. When Linda required greater care during her last month, her family really stepped up to ensure her peace and comfort. Linda was able to move to her daughter Chassis’, where she enjoyed what she loved most, spending copious amounts of time outside watching her grandchildren Sutton and Solomon play. She also was able to make more memories with her loved ones; as there was a continuously revolving door of family visiting. Even in her final days, Linda reached another goal in life, welcoming Chassi and Jeremey’s daughter, Ivory, into the world. Continuing to surpass all expectations, Linda’s strength shined through her final days.
