Linda L. Gilley, 78, of Versailles passed away at 3:27am, Friday, November 11, 2016 at Ripley Crossing in Milan. She was born near Arthur, Illinois on October 22, 1938 the daughter of Thomas and Anna Rhoades Jean. She was married to Frank Gilley on October 28, 1955 and he survives. Other survivors include three sons Kevin (Michelle) Gilley, Dwayne Gilley, and David Gilley all of Versailles; two daughters Cindy (Jay) Miller of Osgood, and Missy (Jeff) Wright of Lexington, Kentucky; 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; one brother Tommy (Regina) Jean of Farmer City, Illinois; one sister Sherry Jean of Rantoul, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Timothy, her grandson John Edmond Miller, and her brothers John Jean and Stewart Jean. Mrs. Gilley was a 1956 graduate of Champaign (Ill.) High School. While raising her family Linda had jobs at US Shoe in Osgood, Crown-Zellerbach in Greensburg, the Rolling Pin Bakery in Versailles, and Madison Electronics. She was a doting mother and grandmother and also enjoyed tending to her flowers which stood out at her home on south 421 in Versailles. Linda’s wishes were to be cremated. Visitation will be Monday, November 14th at 5pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with funeral services following at 7pm. Rev. Charles Miller of Milan will officiate and burial will follow at a later date in the Holton Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the American Kidney Foundation in care of the funeral home.
