Linda A. Pictor

Linda, nee Laramore, Pictor passed peacefully away on Thursday, August 17th, surrounded by her husband and five children at the house they called home for 42 years.

Linda was born and grew up in LaPorte, Indiana.  She is preceded in death by her parents Gertrude and John Laramore.  Her younger brother, John is left with fond memories of growing up together and he and his wife Sue will always treasure the memories of their trip to France with Hank and Linda.

She married Henry Pictor on September 14, 1963.  The two “Northern Indiana’ers” met at a CYO dance.  They were a Marine Corp couple, and it took them to Orange County, California where they had their first two children, Janna and Jim.  The family then moved to Rising Sun, Indiana where they had three more children, Amy, Dan and Katie.  They then came to Batesville, Indiana when Hank became Ripley County Judge.  They raised their family in Batesville and are proud to have settled on Crosstie Lane.

Linda was an avid volunteer and was very active at her children’s schools and at her church.  One of her first jobs was working as a secretary for a blind man where she learned to type and read braille.  Linda also volunteered at Margaret Mary Community Hospital and the Batesville Historical Society for many years.  She and Hank have held an adoration hour at St. Louis Church since its inception.

Although she was terribly afraid of flying, she conquered her fear and took a trip of a lifetime, with fellow St. Louis Parishioners and friends, to Italy.  She and Hank absolutely loved Rome and talked often about the trip.

Linda could be described by her loved ones as a spontaneous singer, the grammar queen, a quilter, a voracious reader…often checking out and finishing several books a week from the Batesville Public Library.  She was a loyal friend, the best grandma, a doting great grandmother, a devoted wife, and a wonderful mother who was the foundation of her home and family.

She is survived by her loving husband Henry Pictor.  Her five children will keep her memory alive in their hearts forever, Janna (John) Irrgang, James (Amy) Pictor, Amy Pictor, Daniel (Sue) Pictor and Katie (Brian) Martin.

She left quite a legacy with 14 grandchildren scattered across the US all trying to perfect her chocolate chip cookie recipe!  Sarah Irrgang, Mary Kate (Gordon) Lang, Rachel (Rex) Clements, William (Savanna) Pictor, Anna Pictor, Ethan Frederick, Evan Frederick, Cole Pictor, Lauren Pictor, Ben Martin, Margaret Martin, Elizabeth Martin, Brigid Martin and Gemma Martin.

And her two great granddaughters, Frances Lang and Nellie Clements, will always treasure the time they got to spend with their GREAT Grandma, Linda!

In honor of Linda, we raise a toast with some gin (extra olives!!) and know that she is at peace with God and all of those that she loved who went before her.

A visitation will be held Sunday, August 20th, from 3 – 6 p.m. at Weigel Funeral Home in Batesville.  The Mass of Christian Burial is 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 21st, at St. Louis Catholic Church in Batesville, with Rev. Suresh Ganta officiating.  The burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to St. Louis Church.  For online condolences go to weigelfh.com.
