Indianapolis, in. — Republican state senator from Oldenburg Jean Leising joins Gov. Eric Holcomb as he ceremonially signs House Enrolled Act 1116 into law at the Statehouse Monday, June 4. Leising sponsored HEA 1116, which expands dental hygienists’ access to practice by allowing them to practice dental hygiene without supervision under an access practice agreement with a supervising dentist.
This will allow dental hygienists to provide oral health care services in nursing homes, assisted living facilities and other public health settings. Others in attendance were Ed Popcheff, Indiana Dental Association, and five area dental hygienists, including Amanda Apple from the Hygienists Association.
