(Statehouse) – State Sen. Jean Leising (R-Oldenburg) and other members of the Land Use Task Force took part in the panel’s first meeting meeting at the Statehouse on Friday, September 8 (pictured).

Created by House Enrolled Act 1132, which Leising co-sponsored during the 2023 legislative session, the task force heard from several agencies and organizations to study:

· Growth trends in rural, suburban, and urban communities across Indiana;

· Economic and demographic factors that developers consider in siting projects;

· How rural, suburban, and urban communities can position themselves to attract economic development;

· Barriers to community growth; and

· Areas in Indiana in which food insecurity exists.

The task force will meet again in the Indiana Senate Chamber on Monday, October 2, at 9 a.m.
