Leising, Lyness, and Raatz coming to Brookville

sen-leisingBROOKVILLE, Ind. — Three state legislators will be visiting Brookville on Monday to gather public input regarding education.

On Monday, January 16, Indiana State Senator Jean Leising, State Representative Randy Lyness, and State Senator Jeff Raatz, will be at the Franklin County School’s Administration Building.

Both Leising and Raatz are members of the State Senate’s Committee on Education and Career Development.

Leising has already authored several bills for the 2017 session regarding education including one to require schools to teach cursive writing, and another require teachers to assign letter grades to students in grades 1 through 12.

Another bill authored by Leising would prohibit schools from starting before the fourth Monday in August, and another that would require the state to update its standards for health education.

The meeting with the three state legislators will take place at 6 p.m. at the Franklin County Community School Corporation Administration Building in Brookville.

The meeting is open to the public.
