Leighton David Ruger, 76, Greensburg, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, September 24, 2017 at the Arbor Grove Village in Greensburg.
Born April 10, 1941 in Toledo, Ohio, he was the son of Clarence and Doreen (Shafer) Ruger.
Leighton graduated from Ferris State University with an engineering degree. He worked for Boeing after college and helped design the 747. He came to Greensburg in the early 60’s and worked as a tool and die engineer for BCA and later worked and retired from Tree City Tool & Engineering.
He was a gun enthusiast and enjoyed deer hunting. He also enjoyed designing and he designed and built his own house.
He was married to Carolyn Outland on July 8, 1962 in Plymouth, MI and she survives.
He is also survived by two sons, Matthew (Kimberly) Ruger, North Pole, AK, Michael (Melissa) Ruger, Columbus, MT; one daughter, Marissa (Brian) Roush, Louisville, OH; one brother, Verlyn (Beverly) Ruger, Michigan; one sister, Alonna Jean Ruger, Battle Creek, MI; 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, DeArle Ruger.
Visitation will be held on Saturday from 11 to 1:00 p.m. at the Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at the funeral home with Rev. George Mitchell officiating.
Interment will be held in the Rossburg Cemetery.
