Tulsa, OK–University of Michigan Wrestler Mason Parris can finally call himself a National Champion. The Lawrenceburg
alum won 5 matches over 3 days at the NCAA Wrestling Championships to become the first University of Michigan Heavyweight since 1986 to win a national championship.
He defeated the likes of Garrett Jones (Minnesota), Taye Ghadiali (Campbell), Lucas Davis (Northwestern), and Tony Cassioppi (Iowa) to get to Saturday’s championship match, where he beat Penn State’s Greg Kerkvliet 5-1 to claim the national title.
