Lawmakers agree to time zone study

Indianapolis, In. — The 2018 Indiana General Assembly could deliver the beginning of another major change to the Hoosier state- Eastern Time for the entire state. Currently, all but 12 Indiana counties are on Eastern Time, the remaining counties are on Central Time.

The Senate Homeland Security and Transportation committee has voted to study which time zone the state should follow.

In 1965 the Interstate Commerce Commission placed counties in the northeast and southwest part of the state on Central Time.

The resolution now moves to the Senate. Lawmakers stress this resolution will do nothing but conduct a study to determine which time zone the state should be in.
