Laura Mae Cash

Laura Mae Cash

Laura Mae Cash, 90, went home to be with Jesus on Friday, October 3, 2025, in Ocala, Florida.  She was a devout Christian, mother and grandmother.  Laura was the widow of Lester E. Cash who passed away in 2014 after 26 years of being happily married and devoted to one another.  She was fully embraced by the Cash family, Lester’s children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Laura was born on September 14, 1935, in Sunman, Indiana, to Holt and Eunice (Holley) Wilson who preceded her in death along with brothers Holt Wilson, Jr. and William Earl Wilson.  She raised her family in Richmond, Kentucky, before moving to Florida.  She was actively involved in the First Church of God in Richmond, Winter Haven, and Tampa, as well as Ocala First Nazarene Church.  She loved music – especially hymns – performing solos at church well into her eighties.

Laura and Lester enjoyed many years of world travel, including mission trips to Ecuador, Honduras, and Haiti.  She adored her grandsons and cherished the time she spent with them.  With a sharp mind, she stayed curious and connected, keeping up with family, friends, sports, and current events throughout her blessed 90 years of life.

Three weeks ago, she joyfully celebrated her special 90th birthday at a gathering in her honor, listening with warmth and gratitude to the stories shared by her many family members and friends in attendance before offering heartfelt words of her own.  After regaling everyone with her memories, she shared a quote that was especially important to her: “Only one life, ’twill soon be past, only what’s done for Christ will last.”

Laura is lovingly remembered by her son, Darrell McDonald and her daughter, Holly (Tommy) Myers; grandsons, Bradley and Brett Myers; sister, Holly Hogsten and brother, Kenneth (Sondra) Wilson, beloved niece Robin Masters, cousin Imogene Bashford; along with nieces, great-nieces, nephews, great-nephews, members of the Cash family and many dear friends.

Family and friends will be received at Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home, 328 West Main Street in Richmond, Kentucky on Friday, October 10.  The visitation will be from 11 am until 1 pm. Funeral service begins at 1 pm, at Combs, Parsons & Collins, with Pastor Steve Birch officiating.  A graveside service will be held immediately following at Madison County Memorial Gardens.
