Larry Wayne Holliday, 61 of Knoxville, Tennessee and formerly of Dillsboro passed away suddenly at his residence on Saturday March 16, 2019. Larry was born on Saturday October 26, 1957 in Batesville the son of Vernon “Doc” and Leota (Knigga) Holliday. He graduated from Dillsboro High School with the class of 1975, and then served his country serving both in the US Army and the US Marines, making a career of the Military. He later served in the Army Reserves in the Motor Pool Division. Larry liked to camp, bicycle and dearly loved his cat, Elvis. He had attended the Presbyterian Church in Dillsboro as a youngster.
Larry is survived by his Father, Vernon “Doc” Holliday, sister Brenda Holliday, Half Brother Mike Clore, special friend Susan Jenkins, nieces and nephews Jared (Nova) and Joel Taylor, Amanda McKeown and Rebecca Clore. He was preceded in death by his mother and nephew Michael Clore.
Funeral services celebrating his life will be 2PM Saturday March 23 at Filter-DeVries-Moore Funeral Home at Dillsboro with Pastor Tom Holt officiating. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery at Dillsboro with full military rites by Milan American Legion Post #235. Visitation will also be Saturday 12-time of services at 2, also at the funeral home. Memorials may be given in his memory to Oakdale Cemetery or the donor’s choice.
