Greensburg, IN—According to Shannon Gibbs, the Lake Santee Property Owners Association Board President, after carefully considering many possible options, the Lake Santee Property Owners Association Board of Directors has decided to postpone the Independence Day celebration activities, including the band and fireworks, due to ongoing COVID-19 social distancing and public health concerns.
The Lake Association is planning to reschedule these events over the Labor Day weekend.
Each year typically 8,000 – 9,000 members, their guests, and people from the surrounding community attend the fireworks. While the beaches, lake, and other amenities are not open to the public, the community has historically been welcome for the fireworks. The number of people (members and guests included) who choose to watch the fireworks from the amphitheater/main beach area is typically 500 – 1,000.
