Lady Wildcats Winning Against Lady Knights InTennis

The Franklin County Girls Tennis team opened their season with an important conference match right off the bat. On top of being a conference match, the team was welcoming back a former head coach, Jeff Siebert. After a long and grueling match, the Lady Cats fought their way to a 5-0 sweep over the Knights.

Coming at #1 Singles, Lilli Stewart got things going right with a 6-1, 6-1 victory. “Lilli played very well against a player who had beaten her several times last season.” Earning another point for the team came at the #2 doubles position with the duo of Maggie Brack and Taylor McCreary not dropping a game at 6-0, 6-0. Following close behind was the #1 doubles team of Grace Moster and Katarina Sacksteder with the score of 6-2, 6-1.

“Both doubles teams played well together and had a great start to the season.” Previously a doubles player, Lauren Klei got a 6-1, 6-2 win at #3 singles. “Lauren played super in her first singles match.” After a long and gruesome 3 hour match, Megan Routh at #2 singles finally won her nail biting match, earning the fifth and final point for her team 4-6, 7-6(3), 6-3. “Megan did a great job out lasting her opponent.”  Wildcats Coach Brady Ertel.

The Lady Wildcats will get a weekend to rest up before they go into a 3 match week beginning on Monday with a home match against Lawrenceburg starting at 4:30.
