EC Freshman won in two: 25-11, 25-12.
We mixed it up a little this evening to give girls an opportunity to play different roles – specifically in the back row – and they adjusted pretty well. We had two successful back-row attacks, which was something we have previously struggled with and been working on.
We have improved at transitioning and reading the opponents. We struggled at times at having solid approaches and attacks, however our setters made smart decisions in relation to placing the ball as we progressed through the match.
Campbell and Johnson led in kills; Dudley, Fledderman, and Langefeld placed the ball well, and you can see that Hoog is continually improving her strength and speed of her attack. We had no errors on serve receive and 80% of our digs were playable.
The defensive specialists are relatively consistent at ensuring we get a good start to each play, and nothing else would be possible without their technique and leadership (which we are continuing to develop) in the back row.
We are down to our last two matches. Freshman are 13-0. Next match is at Franklin County at 5pm on Tuesday, October 7th.
