Lady Trojan Spikers Victorious Over Lady Tigers

Last night, EC faced off with Lawrenceburg in a non-conference match. ECVB came out victorious with the scores of 25-22, 25-13, 25-19.

ECVB vs Lawrenceburg 9-6

‘The start of set one wasn’t pretty, but I am extremely proud of this group. They showed some maturity and poise last night being down big from the start. Instead of quitting, they worked together as a team and dug their way back one point at a time. We didn’t lead in the first set until 22-21. The girls worked hard and then took control in set two. We played with more energy which led to consistent execution on our side of the court. In set three it was much more evenly matched for both teams. We went back and forth at the start until we put a couple small runs together to secure the win. This group doesn’t know when to quit and that can be dangerous. Our opponents start to get comfortable with a lead late in the game and then we start to take over. While I’d prefer us to just start strong and hit the gas with the first serve, I’m happy they stayed in and had the confidence to come back in win that set.’ Trojans Coach Cassie Laker.

Varsity is now 9-4 on the season. Next up: Madison at EC Saturday with freshmen at 11, then JV, then varsity.

ECVB Freshmen vs. Lawrenceburg Tigers winning 2-1. 25-17, 14-25, 15-8.
On Thursday night, the Freshmen Lady Trojans trailed behind the Lady Tigers for more than half of the first set. Slowly but surely the Lady Trojans fought their way back in the first set and capped the set with a victory. Going into the second set they did not play as one and the individualism showed in their efforts causing them to drop the second set to the Tigers. As for the third set they pulled their momentum together and pushed points in increments. I am proud of their fight and never laying down to the competition. ECVB Freshmen is now 4-0 on the season.

ECVB JV vs Lawrenceburg Tigers winning 2-1. 9-25, 25-15, 15-12.
Even though there is a victory written in the stat book, tonight was a night filled with many lessons from both the coach and player perspective. I am very proud of their fight and diligence to never giving up, but there are still so many areas of play and discipline that is to be coached. ECVB JV did not begin the match to their fullest ability in the slightest, but with a few adjustments, they were able to turn the pace of the game around to their favor. All in all, I am happy with their ability to finish a match and move on from past mistakes.

Tonight’s match did not count towards conference so ECVB JV is now 8-1 on the season and 4-0 in the EIAC.
