The Greensburg Lady Pirates Soccer team hosted the Connersville Lady Spartans Thursday evening and came away with a 4-1 EIAC win.
Kasey Moeller led the charge with two goals and two assists on the evening. Danielle Schroeder and Maddi Hellmich added the other goals for the squad. McKella Lynette continued her solid play in goal with 11 saves. Taking shots were: Moeller, Schroeder, Hellmich, Michaela Myers, Cara Zeigler and Sarah Martin. The defensive line did another solid job of neutralizing the counter attacks by the Lady Spartans.
The win pushes the Lady Pirates to 8-6-1 and 3-4 in EIAC play.
The JV Lady Pirates tied the Lady Spartans 1-1 in their final match of the season. The tie brings the overall record to 2-3-3 and 0-3-1 in EIAC play.
After a quick score by the Lady Spartans, the Lady Pirates were able to put pressure on shots and Emily Lowe made 7 saves in the half. Riley
McCreary found the back of the net off an assist from Tess Luers with less than 9-minutes to play to tie the match. The JV squad did an outstanding
job with many players stepping into different positions to help the team.
The Lady Pirates will conclude the regular season on Saturday morning as they host Class A #6 ranked Triton Central. The Lady Tigers will also
be the sectional opponent for the Lady Pirates at Centerville High School on October 9.
