The Pirates JV team started out the evening with a tie, 2-2. The team was strong and had a good passing game supported by the defense. Senior Captain Shelby Forkert would claim the first pirate goal and that would tie the game at 1-1. Sophomore Noey Ramirez would also light up the scoreboard, tying the game that would end tied at 2-2. These are both players’ first High School career goals. Keeper Emma Hostetler saw 8 shots on goal.
The Varsity match would follow. While the team looked equally as strong with their ball movement this was not enough to stop the Spartans. Keeper Madeline Shrader saw 17 shots on goal, allowing 5 to settle. The Pirate offense, supported by the back line, was able to take a combined 10 shots on the Spartan keeper but could not find the scoreboard. The game ended 5-0 with a Pirate loss.
This brings the Pirates to 4-10 for the season and 1-6 in the conference. The Pirates take on Triton Central on Saturday at 10 a.m. This is their last regular season game. They face Madison Consolidated in sectional play at Batesville on Thursday, October 5, at 7 p.m.
