Lady Pirates Capture Decatur County Crown

The Lady Pirates were crowned the 2019 Decatur County Champions Tuesday night at North Decatur High School. The Greensburg Girls brought home 9 championship medals out of the 15 contested events. The evening began with 3 medal earning performances in field events. Senior Lily Grimes defended her two titles in both shot put and discus while Elizabeth Mitchell leaped into 1st at Long Jump. Mitchell’s 15’10 distance makes her the 7th longest jumper in Lady Pirate history.

The Greensburg Girls also did well on the track. The 4×800 Relay team of Brenner Hanna, Emily Mangels, Emma Hatton and Sophie Nobbe started the evening off with a lead over the other county teams but had a very tight finishing win. Anchor leg Nobbe ran a career best split time in order to hold on to the lead over the Chargers to take the gold. Hatton also ran a career best in the 800 as she earned the championship title.
