After several hard fought battles on the courts, the Lady Indians of Milan were defeated by a solid Shawe Memorial team (0-5). However, outstanding performances were put in by Juniors Margo Taylor and Megan Berger, who have both begun to establish themselves as forces to be reckon with going into their Senior season in 2019, making several athletic shots against tough competition.
Dominating Junior Varsity victories were scored by Freshman Delaney Bushhorn (8-4) and Sophomore Doubles partners Lucy Ortt/Calista Koehmstedt (8-3), showing great promise for next year as well.
The Lady Indians will host Franklin County HS tomorrow for Senior Night and the last home match of the 2018 season.
The Lady Indians paid a visit to Madison Consolidated HS Thursday hoping to steal a victory against the Cubs. The Senior Doubles tandems of Tori Haessig/Abby Riehle and DeLanie Weber/Tulsi Patel emerged victorious for Milan with scores of (4-6, 7-6, 10-4 tiebreak) and (7-5, 6-4), but the Lady Indians fell just short, losing the overall match (2-3) after hard fought Singles play.
Junior Harley Bruns and Sophomore Jessica Starkey chalked up a Doubles victory in JV competition (7-5) to finish a night of impressive Doubles play for Milan.
The Lady Indians will host Shawe Memorial HS next Monday (5-7).
